About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant with strong construction industry experience, 4+ years of general ledger accounting, and hands-on Work in Progress (WIP) schedule management. This onsite role supports project financials, job cost tracking, and accurate reporting for active construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage project financials, including job cost tracking, cost allocations, and budgeting
• Prepare and analyze Work in Progress (WIP) schedules, monitoring under/overbilling
• Perform general ledger duties such as journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close
• Process project billing, review change orders, and maintain compliance documentation
• Partner with project managers to monitor financial performance and forecasting
• Support accounts payable/receivable activities tied to project operations
• Generate financial reports for leadership and auditors
• Ensure accuracy and GAAP compliance across all accounting functions

Qualifications

• 4+ years of general ledger accounting experience, ideally in construction
• Strong understanding of construction accounting and job cost structures
• Experience preparing and analyzing WIP schedules
• Proficient with construction accounting software (Sage, Viewpoint, Procore, QuickBooks, etc.)
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• High attention to detail with strong analytical abilities
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with project and field teams
• Must be able to work onsite in Rancho Cordova, CA
