About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant with strong construction industry experience, 4+ years of general ledger accounting, and hands-on Work in Progress (WIP) schedule management. This onsite role supports project financials, job cost tracking, and accurate reporting for active construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage project financials, including job cost tracking, cost allocations, and budgeting
- Prepare and analyze Work in Progress (WIP) schedules, monitoring under/overbilling
- Perform general ledger duties such as journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close
- Process project billing, review change orders, and maintain compliance documentation
- Partner with project managers to monitor financial performance and forecasting
- Support accounts payable/receivable activities tied to project operations
- Generate financial reports for leadership and auditors
- Ensure accuracy and GAAP compliance across all accounting functions
Qualifications
- 4+ years of general ledger accounting experience, ideally in construction
- Strong understanding of construction accounting and job cost structures
- Experience preparing and analyzing WIP schedules
- Proficient with construction accounting software (Sage, Viewpoint, Procore, QuickBooks, etc.)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- High attention to detail with strong analytical abilities
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with project and field teams
- Must be able to work onsite in Rancho Cordova, CA
